The Raintree - An Eco-sensitive Business Hotel in Chennai
Enjoy sleek, modern accommodations with an eco-sensitive twist. The Raintree in the city center of Chennai, India is South India’s first eco-sensitive hotel committed to providing trained staff and innovative, eco-conscious accommodations and services. The Raintree strives to conserve natural resources and raise awareness of the importance of environmental responsibility, while simultaneously redefining the meaning of eco-friendly travel. At The Raintree, it’s not just about using less water but conserving, recycling and saving in the hotel at large. The materials used in the construction of our hotel have been carefully selected. All the wood is strictly rubber wood, bamboo or medium density fiber. There is a good deal of wood in The Raintree that balances the minimalist glass and metal design of the hotel. The cement used for our eco-friendly building is generally Portland Pozzalana cement that contains 15-20 per cent of fly ash, compared to ordinary Portland cement.
The hotel has also installed a water saving device called the George Fisher concealed cistern, which uses only six liters of water per flush compared to the 15-20 liters in a conventional flush. A sewage treatment plant recycles water, which is used for the air conditioners. The heat generated by the air conditioners in turn warms the water in the bathroom.
At The Raintree, our friendly staff are well trained and committed to passing along our eco-sensitive philosophy, saving energy and water and partaking in our various eco-initiatives and activities.
